NICK GALIS & HIS 33 POINT CAREER AVERAGE IN EUROPE AGAIN IS NOT ENOUGH FOR NAISMITH HALL OF FAME IN 2013 ( NAISMITH INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE NEEDS TO SMELL THE COFFEE WITH A DOUBLE SHOT) PDF Print E-mail

-           GALIS 40 PTS VS MARCIULIONIS GOLD MEDAL GAME - WAKE UP NAISMITH

-  33 PTS PER GAME NOT IN A DISGRACE - GALIS 45 PTS VS RUSSIA IN GREEK 81-80 WIN

-  NICK GALIS NOT IN NAISMITH - OSCAR SCHMIDT IS INTERNATIONAL PICK IN 2013
-         GALIS GOLD VS RUSSIA -  SCHMIDT 10 FROM LONG RANGE -  SCHMIDT VS USA

EUROJOHNBBALL has been writing for years about the greatest scorer of the 1980's in Europe, Greek PG Nick Galis from Seton Hall University, not being put into the Naismith Hall of fame, even though he averaged 32.8 points per game for his European career and led all of Europe in scoring in the Euroleague 8 times. Those numbers were not enough in 2012 for the Naismith international committee, as they put in Russian woman player and coach Lidia Alexeeva, who had nice stats, but we are talking about a guy in Nick Galis, who would many times score over 40 points on players like already inducted Naismith Hall of Famers, Drazen Petrovic and Arvydas Sabonis along with Tony Kukoc, Vlade Divac, Sarunas Marciulionis, Bob McAdoo and Lakers head coach Mike D'Antoni.  When EUROJOHNBBALL asked, then Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni, why Nick Galis was not in Naismith, the former Italian league player and now Lakers coach responded with, Well is he Greek or is he American, as to why he is not in.  Somebody must have read that quote in the EUROJOHNBBALL Nick Galis piece last year, because this year, he appeared on the international list, I guess the international committee decided Nick Galis was a Greek more than an American, but he was not the selection on Friday Febuary 15th, as Brazilian 3 point sharp shooter Oscar Schmidt was instead selected as the 2013 international pick.  Oscar Schmidt led the Italian league in scoring 7 times and was more of a spot-up 3 point scorer than the take over top of the key PG of Nick Galis, but as EUROJOHNBBALL stated earlier, Nick Galis led the entire Euroleague in scoring 8 times. This should not be the merits of Nick Galis against Oscar Schmidt, this should be why the international committee put in a woman from Russia over the dominant mens scorer in Europe. It is like picking Pat Summitt instead of John Stockton, Isiah Thomas or the original Allen Iverson scoring PG that torched all of Europe. I guess that 45 point game in the 1989 Eurobasket Semis VS Russia,in an 81-80 win for Greece, the same Russian team with Arvydas Sabonis and Sarunas Marciulionis that defeated USA in the 1988 Olympics was not enough for Naismith, instead of 45 in an 81-80 win, maybe if he went for 60 points Nick Galis could be in. Again what can EUROJOHNBBALL say this year, but this is a TOTAL DISGRACE the Naismith Hall of Fame needs to wake up and smell the coffee, but this year take a turbo boost double shot to give this Greek European legend his proper respect in 2014.   2014 ??????
