- FIBA 2014 WORLD CUP PODCAST ON NBA.COM EPISODE 172 - JOHN DIMOPOULOS
- AUG 4 - PHILADELPHIA 76ERS HIRE JR HOLDEN AS EURO SCOUT
The Philadelphia 76ers just hired JR Holden as an International scout, which EJBB says
is a GREAT hire. JR Holden knows the European game very well, being part of TWO
Euroleague title squads in 2006 and 2008 with CSKA Moscow, playing with NBA level
talent like Theo Papaloukas, Trajan Langdon, David Vanterpool, Matjaz Smodis,
Ramunas Siskauskas and David Anderson and coached by now Spurs assistant coach
Ettore Messina on those CSKA Moscow squads.
JR Holden was part of the Top 50 List 2001-2010 Euroleague All-Decade Team and won
Gold medal at 2007 Eurobasket playing with Russia hitting the game winning jumper,
using a pump fake to get Jose Calderon off his feet with the Fly by and Russia upset Spain
on their home court to win the crown. As many who go to EJBB know the use of USA
PG's with no heritage to a nation or not being born in that nation is just not what nations
should do to win a medal. JR Holden just like many other USA players are just playing
ball and trying to get exposure but are doing it by using a rule by FIBA that is IDIOTIC
and a JOKE as EJBB has stated many times in the past. Heritage players of nations being
BENCHED or worse cut from senior national squads that they have played with since the
U-16 and U-18 and U-20 squads. The Naturalized Citizen rule will most likely stay the
same with FIBA but again EJBB does NOT AGREE with the rule & Fran Fraschila has also
said the rule needs to be changed, but in the end EJBB also agrees that the Philadelphia
76ers hiring JR Holden (The guy that hit the Biggest shot in Naturalized BBALL History) is
still a GREAT Hire for Philly even though the Naturalized Rule is JUST IDIOTIC.
