NBA NEEDS A MID-SEASON NBA CUP TOURNAMENT JUST LIKE EUROPE HAS

European basketball leagues just finished their mid-season Cup tournaments, that give fans a reason to really get charged for a mid-season basketball game. The Cup system in Europe has the top 8 teams play  a loser go home tournament, just like the NCAA college system has. The European leagues still have their championship playoff systems, at the end of the year, with best of 3, and best of 5 game series, but the 1 game match-ups, give teams with lesser salary, a chance at knocking off the big boys, and watch hard fought games, with every possession meaning something, just like the last game in a playoff series. The NBA could have this Cup system, in major markets like New York, Chicago and Philadelphia, with that home city team, having an automatic bid, and the remaining spots going to the top 7 records at the All-Star break. Instead of having  3 days off, at the All-Star break, make it 7 by playing the Cup challenge 1st, then have the All-Star game, in the later part of the week. It would get major market teams involved, and it could give the NBA, the college fan that likes the 1 game format. Players like Kobe Bryant, Lebron James, Carmelo Anthony, Dwight Howard and Kevin Garnett, would take this real serious, as none of them like to lose. After watching this playoff type of hard play, the casual NBA fan, that says college ball is better, might want to checkout the NBA playoffs come the spring. ( JUST A THOUGHT COMMISSIONER DAVID STERN MIGHT WANT TO LOOK INTO)
