-     FLAMENGO WIN INTERCONTINENTAL CUP OVER 2014 EUROLEAGUE CHAMPS

1. Flamengo 90 Maccabi Tel Aviv 77 - The Israeli squad of Maccabi Tel Aviv, upset deeper squads CSKA Moscow and then Real Madrid at the 2014 Euroleague Final Four, to become champs of Europe. Gone from that underdog team are coach David Blatt, who now coaches LeBron James and the Cavs in the NBA and Final Four MVP Tyrese Rice, who signed a 3 year deal in Russia with Khimki and All-Euroleague second team guard Ricky Hickman, who signed a 2 year deal with Fenerbahce in Turkey (WOW TALK ABOUT BLOWING A CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM UP TO SAVE MONEY). Maccabi Tel Aviv brought in Jeremy Pargo to take the spot of Tyrese Rice and he led them today with 28 points, 7 assists, on 10-16 FG, 6-11(3PT), 2-4 FT and was followed by new SG Marquez Haynes with 15 points, but the 13 point loss cost the Euroleague the Intercontinental title, as the South American champs only lost game one by 3 points to Maccabi Tel Aviv 69-66, thus win the Cup because of the point margin in the two games played.    The Brazilian Flamengo squad was led by 24 year old Argentinian PG Nicolas Laprovittola, who showed skills on the floor that say, he is the future of Argentinian backcourt players, as he led Flamengo with 24 points, on 7-11 FG, 2-5(3PT), 8-9 FT, 6 assists and was followed by former Virginia University PF Jerome Meyinsse with 22 points on the inside, on 8-10 FG, 6-9 FT, 6 rebounds, as the Brazilian crowd rushed the court at the end of the game.  The win for the Brazilian team over the 2014 Euroleague champs, minus Tyrese Rice, Ricky Hickman, David Blatt and Big Sofo, Sofoklis Schortsanitis, is like a Euroleague champion playing an NBA Champion in a 2 game series and winning by point margin, the European league fans would also rush the court.  This Maccabi Tel Aviv squad has no shot at a Euroleague title this season, but the win by Flamengo shows basketball in South America has some players that can play the game also, that do not play in Europe or the NBA and do not be surprised if Nicolas Laprovittola and Jerome Meyinsse are not signed by European ACB league teams in the future.

2. Maccabi Tel Aviv 69 Flamengo 66 - Jeremy Pargo (21 PT) Olivinha Rodriguez (13 PT)

-         REAL MADRID GET SOME REVENGE DEFEAT 2014 ACB LEAGUE CHAMPS

1. Real Madrid 99 FC Barcelona 78 - The deepest squad in Europe last season was Real Madrid, but they got upset by Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Euroleague Final and then lost the Spanish ACB league Finals to FC Barcelona 3 games to 1, after they looked like the dominant team in Europe all year long, winning many games by 25, 30 and 40 points and looked like they could have won the weak NBA Atlantic, early on in their dominant European league season. Real Madrid lost Nikola Mirotic to the NBA and the Chicago Bulls, but the 2014-15 Real Madrid squad is deeper than the 2013-14 squad adding Gustavo Ayon, Jonas Maciulius, Andres Nocioni, KC Rivers and Facundo Campazzo to an already loaded squad and today they got some revenge for the 2014 ACB Finals loss, by beating Juan Carlos Navarro and FC Barcelona by 21points in the Supercopa.  Spanish Combo-guard Sergio Lllull was named MVP with 21 point game, on 9-11 FG,2-3(3PT), 1-1 FT, 5 assists and was followed by Greek Center Ioannis Bourousis with 17 points, on 7-9 FG, 3-4(3PT), while Spanish SF Rudy Fernandez added 15 points, on 6-10 FG, 3-5(3PT).   FC Barcelona was led by Croatian Center Ante Tomic with 17 points, on 8-9 FG, 1-3 FT, but Juan Carlos Navarro was held to just 8 points, making only 1-5 from 3 point land. Real Madrid made 13-23 from deep, while FC Barcelona only hit on 7-27.
